Google PageRank, Simplified: A Guide for SEO Beginners

Image
There was once a time when there was no SEO metric more important than PageRank. You could buy it. You could sell it. And that was the problem Google created for themselves when they gave us pesky marketers the green bar. It was called toolbar PageRank. And it broke Google. We’ll get into that a bit further below. The “Invite to Group via Link” feature allows groups to be indexed by Google and they are generally available across the internet. With some wildcard search terms you can easily find some… interesting… groups.” Any link to a WhatsApp group that was shared outside of a private message could be found in Google. Users could follow the links to join the group. The fact that the links were, at some point, shared publicly is what lead Google to indexing the content in search results. Google’s Danny Sullivan acknowledged this on Twitter, saying: “Search engines like Google & others list pages from the open web. That’s what’s happening here. It’s no different than any case where a site allows UR...
